Saw these two films on iTunes yesterday. Not sure why they are getting such high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The settings in the original BR was always night time when Deckhard was outside. 2049 was mostly day time. Also, Deckhard's apartment was mostly darkly lit, whereas K's apartment is really bright. The dark lighting in the original gave it a more lonely, dystopian feel. Plot was also very thin. The visuals were impressive though.
SW has been too Disneyfied - too many attempts at humor and a cute, chubby, funny asian taking a large chunk of the screen time (more attempts at humor? to appeal to an asian audience worldwide?). Would have been icing on the cake if she started singing Disney songs. Plot was also weak - nothing that we haven't already seen before. I was bored enough in some parts to play with my phone.
Thoughts?
